Mufti Muhammad Hassaan Kaleem, Chairman of Shari’a Advisory Board for Pak-Qatar Takaful group is a prominent personality in the Islamic Finance Industry. Prior to his appointment as chairman in 2019, Mufti Hassaan was already serving as member of Shari’ah Pak-Qatar Takaful for more than a decade since the company’s inception in 2007. Apart from his role in Shari’a Advisory Board for Pak-Qatar Family Takaful, he is also serving as member of Shari’a Board for Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan (DIBPL) and Head of Shari’a, DIBPL.
Mufti Hassaan has vast experience in matters related to Shari’ah teachings and advisory and has been teaching various courses in Islamic Studies and Arabic at Darl-ul-Uloom Karachi for the last many years. He is a member of Dar-ul-Ifta, Jamia Darul-ul-Uloom Karachi, Chairman Shari’ah Board of Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Shari’ah Consultant for Deloitte (Global Islamic Finance Team), and Shari’a Council Member of Al-Ameen UBL Funds. In addition, he is also a Shari’a Board Member of Hanover Re Takaful Bahrain, Shari’ah Board Member of Takaful Emirate UAE, Shari’ah Board Member of Amana Bank Limited Sri Lanka.
Mufti Hassaan Kaleem is permanent faculty member of Center for Islamic Economics Karachi, Trainer of Shari’a standards at Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) Bahrain and visiting faculty member of National Institute of Banking and Finance (State Bank of Pakistan).
Mufti Ismatullah is Sharia’h Advisor & Member at Pak-Qatar Family Takaful. He holds a Ph.D on Money Shariah perspective from Karachi University and did his Takhassus (specialization) in Islamic Fiqh and Fatawa from Jamia Dar ul Uloom, Karachi.
Mufti Ismatullah also holds Shahadh Al-Alamiyyah degree. Mufti Ismatullah has been teaching Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Philosophy and Arabic Grammar at Dar-ul- Uloom, Karachi since 1993 and has issued over 25,000 fatawas while serving at Dar-ul-Ifta’ of Dar-ul- Uloom, Karachi.
Mufti Ismatullah is also involved in research in the fields of Islamic finance, especially Takaful and has compiled a book on Takaful which is very famous and popular in takaful industry. Mufti Ismatullah is also the Chairman Shariah Board of Bank Al-Habib and Shariah Advisor of IGI window takaful.
Mufti Muhammad Shakir Siddiqui completed his research work in Islamic Jurisprudence with an outstanding record throughout his academic career. He completed his M. A. in Arabic from University of Karachi in 2011 and is presently enrolled in M. Phil program leading to Ph.D at the same University.
He has been associated with Pak-Qatar General Takaful Limited since 2009 and supervises Shariah Trainings, Shariah Compliance & Audits. Mufti Shakir developed & implemented Shariah Compliance, Audit Manuals and Guidelines (Advertising, Co-Takaful, Screening Criteria for Investment, Shares, Stock Trading, Surplus Distribution, Re-Takaful, Charity Fund, Banka Takaful etc.) for the company; reviewed several business contracts and agreements with respect to Shariah and delivered Shariah trainings and lectures to participants at various platforms all over Pakistan. He also conducted workshops on Takaful and Islamic Banking at Corporate level including Multinationals. His specialization include: Islamic Finance, Islamic Jurisprudence, Takaful, Islamic Risk Management, Islamic Tarbiya, Sharia Audit & Compliance, Waqf Management and Islami Tariqa-e-Tijarat. He focuses on presenting Islamic solutions to problems related to the modern world.
He is a visiting faculty member of different universities/educational institutes in Karachi including IBA-CEIF. Mufti Shakir completed Takahassus Fil Ifta (equivalent to Ph.D) and has the authority to write Fatawa at Darul Ifta Darul Uloom, Karachi.
Mufti Shakir is also a member and Shariah Consultant of Standing Committee on ‘Islamic Banking & Takaful’ at FPCCI (The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
